Peace River Quilters' Guild, Inc

A Florida Not For Profit Organization

Community Quilts

Our Community Quilt Program is the Guild's major altruistic project. In the past 5 years alone we have donated over 1,500 quilts to the Charlotte County Community. Each member of the guild is expected to participate in this program by making one quilt each year to donate.

Brown Bag Challenge

Each January, participants bring pre-determined amounts of fabric in a brown bag. The "control person" collects the bags, keeps track of whose is whose, and distributes them back to the participants. The participants have until the December luncheon to make something lovely for return to the original owner of the fabric. It's fun to find out who you made something for and also fun to get something made for you.

Spring Challenge

Each April, a challenge is made to the whole club, to make something using defined guidelines. The following March, the challenge pieces are hung during our spring luncheon and members get to vote for their favorite. The winner gets to make up the rules for the challenge for the next year.

Retreat

Retreat takes place in the spring of every even numbered year. We spend several days and nights at a Florida retreat house with experienced teachers and good food.

Order Of The Fat Quarter

The Order of the Fat Quarter is our recognition of a member’s hard work and dedication to the Peace River Quilt Guild. Each year our general membership is given the opportunity to nominate one special member to receive this honor. These women are the core and strength of our organization. They have worked tirelessly to promote our guild and make it a place of learning, good will, and comradery.
